URBAN NOTION is very proud to announce the arrival of GURU, one of the worlds most recognised and respected Hip Hop artists. He will be supported by New York ’s underground mix tape king DJ DOO WOP, and producer SOLAR. NZ will be mark the beginning of his first ever solo world tour.

As one half of rap outfit GANGSTARR, GURU was to early 90s rap what The Furious 5 were to the early 80s - an artist who could bridge the great divide between his underground roots and the mass market.

Always at the forefront GURU has worked with the greatest artists of Hip Hop and Jazz. His JAZZMATAZZ series, a hybrid of hip hop and jazz fusion, has earned its place in the music collections of many. GURU’s JAZZMATAZZ has been embraced not only by the Hip Hop community, but by all lovers of music.

Joining GURU on tour will be renowned producer SOLAR, collaborator on his first solo album, GURU V7.0 THE STREET SCRIPTURES, due for release in late June. On the wheels of steel will be mix tape legend DJ DOO WOP bringing the street tradition of NYC turntablism to Australia for the first time.

For his Street Scriptures Tour GURU will bring a more personal style to audiences, performing in Australia ’s premium intimate venues. Not only be will GURU be drawing from GANGSTARR and JAZZMATTAZZ, he will also be showcasing previously unheard tracks from his new album.
