What better way to kick off the 2006 summer season then with the don, the true king of the jungle, DJ Hype. In New Zealand to set dancefloors alight with a blazing selection of scorching dubplate heat!

There is no questioning this mans dedication and commitment to drum and bass, Hype is possibly one of the most influential figures in the scene witnessing every stage of development. At the top of the game since the mid-80’s, deep-rooted at the forefront of UK dance culture as it has progressed through the ages. Starting out with the legendary UK sound system Shut Up and Dance spinning reggae, house and hip hop before going on to represent the UK in the DMC’s in the late 80’s. After winning various awards and accolades, Hype set up Ganja Recordings in 1993 where he discovered, 2 rising young talents Zinc and Pascal. The 3 together would form True Playaz and the rest as they say is history. True Playaz took the drum and bass world by storm, its hip hop infused jungle/drum and bass flavor was irresistible and has gone on to ensure its place as one of the most popular labels of all time. Still going strong alongside the re-launched Ganja Recordings and new off shoot the liquid funk label Liqweed Ganja, it would seem Hype has all bases locked down.

But it as a DJ that Hype truly shines. From London to Europe to America to Japan, Hype has played all over and remained one of the most in demand DJ’s in the world for well over 10 years. Hypes 2 previous visits to these shores have been sessions of uncut, raw good time, party vibe drum and bass. The freshest dubplates from the scenes hottest and freshest producers blended with the classic cuts and all topped off by Hypes trademark scratch tricks. Those who have seen Hype before can testify there is no other like him; those who haven’t do not miss this opportunity because as with previous Hype visits it will be talked about for along time to come.
