ALIX PEREZ
2007 is looking to be a very big year for North London based DJ/producer Alix Perez. As one of the freshest young producers in the Drum and Bass scene and undoubtly one of it’s most prolific up and coming DJ’s. He already has a plethora of releases on established labels such as Shogun Audio, Liquid V, Bassbin, Creative Source, Horizons, Progress, Brigand and Fokuz. With tunes such as ‘Magnolias’, ‘Crown City’, ‘Solitary Native’, ‘Down the Line’, under his belt there aren’t many dj’s on the circuit without a Perez tune in their bag.
Originally from Belgium, Drum and Bass comes naturally to 21-year-old Alix, who has been immersed in music from an early age. Alix started to DJ at the age of 14 and progressed into production at 17, collaborating with other hotly tipped artists such as Jenna G, Redeyes, Sabre, MC Fats, Spectrasoul and Specific.
With residences at the legendary nights ”Swerve” and “Movement”.Alix is also receiving bookings worldwide from Paris to Toronto. With his smooth, yet sophisticated selection, drawing for all the latest dubs. This man can’t fail to deliver
Alix also has numerous tracks play listed on BBC 1Xtra and heavy support from respected players within the scene, from Bukem to Bailey, he has been repped as “the one to watch” and “representing the future of Drum and Bass” With scene heavyweights such as Friction and Fabio giving him their full support he cannot fail to succeed
Already featured in Knowledge and ATM magazine, Alix is gaining strong exposure within the Drum and Bass scene worldwide for putting the soul back into Drum and Bass.
LYNX
Soul:R (Marcus Intalex), 31 Records (Doc Scott), Creative Source (Fabio), Bingo Beats (Zinc), Digital Soundboy (Shy FX)…just some of the labels which will be releasing a Steve Nobes (aka Lynx) track in 2007.
Marcus Intalex has been so impressed with Lynx’s productions that he is releasing an album of his on the groundbreaking Soul:R Recordings. Not only that, 2007 saw Lynx being integrated into the Soul R camp as an official Soul:R artist and Soul:ution resident dj alongside legends such as Calibre, Marcus Intalex and ST Files.
When you add this to increasingly frequent airplay and an impressive set of DJ bookings, it is clear that 2007 was only the start of an exciting career for Lynx.

When you add this to increasingly frequent airplay and an impressive set of DJ bookings, it is clear that 2007 will be the start of an exciting career for Lynx.
An exciting career but an electrifying new trend in drum and bass sound. D&B has been waiting a long time for a producer who could combine musical diversity with crowd pleasing success, and Lynx has been worth the wait! You will see no better proof than the super clubs of London, where dance floors are ripped up on a weekly basis by Mariachi, Uno, Shaku, B Box Roller, Global Enemies or one of the many other tracks in Lynx’s current repertoire.
Portsmouth born Lynx had his first release (in 1996 with Southampton based Hardcore pioneers, Ramos, Supreme and Sunset Regime) when he was just 17, so you may wonder why you have only started hearing his name in the media. Lynx has been working tirelessly on his sound, racking up 6 years of commercial studio experience and a masters degree in Audio Technology. Combine this with his passionate knowledge for funk, rock, soul, jazz and world music and you may start to understand why Lynx’s music sounds so far above that of the typical drum and bass producer.
Portsmouth seems an unlikely stomping ground for cutting edge talent, but Lynx managed to unearth a producer with a similar passion to his own and soon teamed up with Raiden. (Who later went onto release on Renegade Hardware). Raiden (aka Jarman) and Lynx collaborated on various tracks such as Moon Warriors (Late License, 2001)
Lynx’s dedication to music was strong from a young age, and he started work experience at Chichester based studio ‘Airtight’. Airtight was a nursery for producers including Friction, Mampi Swift, Stakka, Skynet, and Skinny who were all found busy writing the next D&B anthem. There could have been fewer places better suited to help Lynx hone his skills. Lynx ‘s hard working attitude and natural ability for music production soon led him to co-manage Airtight.
From his musical beginnings producing hardcore, in 2002 Lynx moved into the new, techno-infused wave of drum and bass and racked up a string of releases with Brighton based label Underfire Recordings and Audio Blueprint (Stakka & Skynet). Tracks such as Meltin Pot and Special Agent were championed by Andy C, Ed Rush & Optical, Shimon and Kemal.
Being a producer passionate for progression and having an aptitude for diversity, Lynx moved easily from techno drum and bass to the aptly named ‘liquid funk’. Lynx collaborated with popular French DJ Flow to produce Time-Out (Renegade Recordings, 2002) which was played by the legendary John Peel. From then Lynx grew confident in his ability to capture the essence of a musical genre and his releases started to span the drum and bass musical spectrum.
Summer 2006 and Mariachi (Lynx & Malibu Rhodes) started a snowball effect in the scene. From the world-famous Marcus Intalex playing the track on his Solutions Radio show, to Radio 1’s Fabio opening his show “Best of 2006” (Dec 30th 2006) with it. Mariachi (Creative Source, due for release Spring 2007) and it’s flip-side Uno still receive regular radio and club play, but are today joined by a host of other Lynx tracks including Shaku ‘Exactly the tip I am looking for’ (Grooverider Radio 1) and Global Enemies featuring MC Kemo‘ this track is gonna be big, deep deep stuff’ (Fabio, Radio 1). Fabio has recently featured him on his show as a new talent, and has been quoted to say ‘you should be seeing Lynx collecting awards next year at Radio 1xtra’s Drum and Bass awards’.
Marcus Intalex has been so impressed with Lynx’s productions that he has singled him for various releases on his groundbreaking Soul: R recordings. Not only that 2007 saw Lynx being integrated into the Soul R camp as an official Soul: R artist alongside legends such as Calibre, Marcus Intalex and ST Files. As such he (alongside Kemo) will also be a releasing an album for Soul:r in Summer 2008.
Other Lynx releases in recent months included those one labels like 31 Records, Creative Source, Bingo Beats, and Digital Soundboy.
Lynx’ biggest hit to date, and for many the drum’n’bass track of the year 2007, was the bestselling Dosco Dodo on Creative Source in November 2007. If you’ve been to a drum and bass club or tuned into the big dnb radio shows in the last six months, there’s a high chance you’ve heard a Lynx produced track.
Lynx himself has become a busy dj, be it as resident at the many Soul:ution nights and solo in clubs around Europe and soon worldwide.
